Nell'estate del 1922 un fotografo di nome Norman Harris si imbarca sulla stessa nave di Niki, una ricamatrice. Norman viaggia in prima classe, Niki, insieme ad altre 700 spose, in terza. Tutte le ragazze indossano il loro abito nuziale e conservano la fotografia del marito che non hanno ancora conosciuto. Norman č scosso alla vista del gruppo di spose: piů di tutte lo colpisce Niki, tanto da spingerlo a fare conoscenza con lei e ad innamorarsene. L'epilogo dell'amore tra Niki e Norman si consuma sulla coperta del transatlantico "SS King Alexander" nel momento dell'approdo al porto di New York.           

In the summer of 1922, photographer Norman Harris and Niki, a seam-stress, are sailing to America on board of the same ship. Norman travels in first class, Niki and 700 brides in third. They all carry their own bridal gown and the photograph of a bridegroom they have never met before in their little trunks. Norman is touched when he sees the brides. Niki is the one who makes the greatest impression on him. When the transatlantic liner "SS King Alexander" sails into New York harbour the epilogue of the Niki-Norman relationships is played out on deck.

 

Bio-filmografia/Bio-filmography: Atene, 1940. Ha studiato alla Stavrakou Film school.

Ha lavorato come aiuto regista ed ha diretto il suo primo cortometraggio, The Thief, nel 1965. Ha vinto il suo primo premio con il cortometraggio “Jimmă the Tiger” (1966) a cui segue il premio FIPRESCI vinto nel 1972 con “Anna’s Engagement” e le menzioni ottenute al Festival Internazionale del Cinema di Berlino con “The Striker with the No 9” (1988) e “Quiet Days in August” (1990).

Athens, 1940. He studied at the Stavrakou Film school. He worked as an assistant director and made his first short The Thief, in 1965. He won his first award with the short film Jimmă the Tiger (1966), followed by his feature films Anna’s Engagement (1972) which won the FIPRESCI, The Striker with the No 9 (1988) and Quiet Days in August (1990) which won a mention by the Berlin Film Festival.
